What We Do
The Purple Iris Foundation is dedicated to supporting Maine residents battling cancer by providing compassionate guidance, practical assistance, and access to vital resources. We understand that a cancer diagnosis affects every part of life—your health, your finances, your emotional well-being, and your ability to navigate a complex healthcare system. Our mission is to make sure you never face those challenges alone.
We focus on meeting people where they are, listening to their needs, and helping them take the next steps with confidence. Whether someone has just received a diagnosis or is deep into treatment, we connect them with services that reduce stress, improve quality of life, and fill the gaps that other programs may not cover.
What We Do:
-
Resource Navigation:
We help identify and connect clients with available services both within Maine and out of state—treatment centers, support programs, financial resources, transportation assistance, and more. -
Basic Needs Support:
We provide help when everyday essentials become difficult to afford. This may include grocery cards, gas cards, direct vendor payments, and other necessities to support stability during treatment. -
Compassionate Guidance:
Our team listens, advises, and helps clients make sense of options, paperwork, and next steps. We focus on reducing overwhelm so clients can focus on healing. -
Filling the Gaps:
Many families face needs that fall outside traditional support systems. We step in to bridge those gaps, ensuring that no one has to struggle alone. -
Hope and Community:
Beyond practical support, we offer encouragement, understanding, and a sense of community—because emotional support matters just as much as financial or logistical help.
