The Maine Fund for Cancer Patients
The Maine Fund for Cancer Patents is not only a fund for transportation needs. That is one of the most common requests we receive, however. The fund is designed to meet the "practical needs" of patients, including help with utilities, rent, groceries, etc.
Joe Andruzzi Foundation Financial Assistance Program
The Joe Andruzzi Foundation is committed to providing assistance to patients of all ages throughout New England who have fallen on financial hardships as a result of a cancer diagnosis. In many cases, these patients and/or family members are unable to work because of declining health and treatment. The Joe Andruzzi Foundation understands that crucial living expenses are not put on hold because of a diagnosis, and JAF’s Financial Assistance Program specifically targets and fulfills patients who are struggling to make ends meet.
Emergency Rental Assistance Program
Maine has $200 million in rent relief funds from the federal Emergency Rental Assistance Program. This program will provide rental and utility relief payments to help eligible renters maintain housing stability. Maine’s Community Action Agencies will review applications, check eligibility, and process payments for eligible expenses on behalf of households.
Maine General Assistance helps individuals and families to meet their basic needs. This may include help paying for:
Household or personal supplies (toiletries, cleaning supplies)
Housing (e.g., mortgage, rent, room rent, temporary housing)
Fuel & utilities
Medical, dental, prescriptions, medical supplies/equipment
